Refund & Cancellation Policy

This Refund & Cancellation Policy (“Policy”) governs the circumstances under which refunds or cancellations may be requested or processed for transactions carried out through Codoser.com (“Codoser,” “we,” “our,” “us”), including digital product purchases, licenses, subscriptions, and marketplace activities.

Because Codoser is a digital marketplace where authors sell licensed digital products to buyers, and not a physical goods store, refund and cancellation terms differ significantly from traditional retail or service transactions.

Please read this Policy carefully before making any purchases or listing products. By using the Platform, you agree to abide by the terms of this Policy in addition to the Terms of Use, License Policy, Author Policy, Buyer Policy, and other related legal documents.

1. Scope of the Policy

1.1 This Policy applies to all purchases, downloads, licenses, and subscriptions made through Codoser’s marketplace.
1.2 It applies to buyers, authors, affiliates, and any other parties involved in marketplace transactions.
1.3 It covers refund eligibility, ineligibility, timelines, processing mechanisms, author responsibilities, and dispute resolution.
1.4 This Policy applies globally, subject to variations required by local consumer protection laws.

2. Nature of Digital Products

2.1 All products available on the Codoser marketplace are digital goods (e.g., code, scripts, templates, plugins, themes, graphics, software, UI kits).
2.2 Digital products are delivered instantly via secure download links or user dashboards after payment confirmation.
2.3 Due to their non-returnable, non-revocable nature, refunds are handled differently from physical goods.
2.4 Once a digital product has been downloaded or licensed, it cannot be “returned” in the traditional sense.

3. Legal Framework

3.1 This Policy is structured to comply with:

  • EU Consumer Rights Directive (digital content)
  • GDPR and related EU eCommerce rules
  • U.S. consumer protection principles and CCPA for California users
  • Indian IT Act, Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, and taxation laws
3.2 Local mandatory consumer protection laws will override any conflicting provisions of this Policy.

4. Refund Philosophy

4.1 Codoser aims to balance buyer protection with author fairness, given the irreversible delivery of digital goods.
4.2 Refunds are provided only under specific, justified circumstances.
4.3 Authors and buyers are encouraged to resolve issues directly, with Codoser acting as an intermediary where needed.

5. Non-Refundable by Default

5.1 All sales of digital products are final by default.
5.2 Refunds are not granted for reasons such as:

  • Change of mind after purchase
  • Mistaken purchase
  • Buyer no longer needs the item
  • Lack of sufficient technical knowledge to use the item
  • Compatibility issues with third-party systems outside the author’s control
5.3 This applies to Regular and Extended Licenses equally.

6. Exceptional Refund Eligibility

6.1 Refunds may be granted under the following exceptional conditions:

  • Duplicate or accidental payments caused by technical errors.
  • Corrupted or defective product files where no working version is provided.
  • Non-delivery due to verified technical issues on Codoser’s side.
  • Listing misrepresentation (e.g., major advertised features missing).
  • Legal takedowns resulting in revoked access before use.
6.2 Refunds under these circumstances are subject to investigation and verification.

7. Refunds for Duplicate Transactions

7.1 If the same transaction is accidentally processed multiple times, the duplicate amount will be refunded after validation.
7.2 Buyers must notify Codoser promptly and provide transaction IDs.
7.3 Gateway processing fees may be deducted if incurred.

8. Product Defects and Corruption

8.1 If a purchased digital file is corrupted or fails to function as described, the buyer must first contact the author for resolution.
8.2 If the author does not provide a functional replacement within a reasonable time, a refund may be approved.
8.3 Buyers must provide evidence of the defect (e.g., error messages, screenshots).

9. Listing Misrepresentation

9.1 Refunds may be considered if the product is substantially different from the description, documentation, or preview.
9.2 Minor discrepancies, non-critical bugs, or subjective dissatisfaction do not qualify.
9.3 Buyers must demonstrate the discrepancy clearly.

10. Non-Delivery of Products

10.1 Refunds may be approved if a payment is successfully made but the product is not delivered due to verified technical failures.
10.2 This excludes delays caused by the buyer’s network, device, or email filtering issues.

11. Revoked Access Due to Legal Reasons

11.1 If a purchased product is removed or disabled due to a legal takedown (e.g., DMCA) before the buyer can reasonably use it, a refund may be processed.
11.2 Refund eligibility depends on timing and extent of product access.

12. Refund Eligibility Period

12.1 Refund requests must be submitted within 7 calendar days of the original transaction date.
12.2 Requests made beyond this period may be rejected unless required by law.

13. How to Request a Refund

13.1 Buyers must submit refund requests through their account dashboard or official support channels.
13.2 Requests must include order ID, product name, reason for refund, and any supporting evidence.
13.3 Incomplete requests may be rejected.

14. Refund Review and Approval Process

14.1 Codoser reviews refund requests objectively, considering buyer claims, author input, and transaction records.
14.2 Authors are given an opportunity to respond before a decision is made.
14.3 Decisions are final but may be appealed through the Dispute Resolution process.

15. Author Involvement in Refunds

15.1 Because authors are the actual licensors, their feedback is essential in determining refund eligibility.
15.2 Authors are required to cooperate with Codoser during refund investigations.
15.3 Repeated negligence by authors may lead to penalties or account suspension.

16. Payment Gateway Fees

16.1 Refunds may exclude non-recoverable gateway processing fees where applicable.
16.2 If the gateway returns the full amount, buyers will receive the full refund.
16.3 If not, the deducted amount will be clearly stated in the refund confirmation.

17. Currency Conversions and Refunds

17.1 Refunds are processed in the same currency as the original payment.
17.2 Buyers are responsible for any currency exchange differences between payment and refund.
17.3 Codoser is not responsible for exchange rate fluctuations.

18. Timelines for Refund Processing

18.1 Approved refunds are typically processed within 5–10 business days, depending on payment methods and gateways.
18.2 Delays caused by external banks or payment intermediaries are beyond Codoser’s control.

19. Refund Method

19.1 Refunds are returned to the original payment method whenever possible.
19.2 If not technically possible, store credit or alternative methods may be used with buyer consent.
19.3 Refunds are not issued in cash or cryptocurrency.

20. Refunds on Bundled Products or Promotions

20.1 If a product was purchased as part of a bundle or discounted promotion, partial refunds are not generally offered.
20.2 Exceptions may be made if a specific product within the bundle is defective or misrepresented.

21. Subscription Cancellations (if applicable)

21.1 If subscriptions are offered, users may cancel future renewals at any time.
21.2 Access continues until the end of the current billing period; partial period refunds are generally not provided.

22. Cancellation by Buyer Before Download

22.1 If a buyer cancels an order before downloading the product and within a short window (e.g., minutes), a discretionary refund may be considered.
22.2 Once files are downloaded, this option expires.

23. Author-Initiated Cancellations

23.1 If an author cannot fulfill a product listing (e.g., due to legal issues or removal), Codoser may cancel affected transactions and issue refunds to buyers.
23.2 Authors may face consequences for repeated cancellations.

24. Platform-Initiated Cancellations

24.1 Codoser may cancel orders in cases of fraud, misrepresentation, payment failures, or legal obligations.
24.2 Buyers will be refunded where applicable, except in cases of buyer misconduct.

25. Fraudulent or Abusive Refund Claims

25.1 Fraudulent refund requests (e.g., false defect claims, using the product then seeking refund) are strictly prohibited.
25.2 Codoser reserves the right to deny refunds, suspend accounts, or take legal action in such cases.
25.3 Refund abuse detection mechanisms may involve automated and manual review.

26. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

26.1 If a buyer initiates a chargeback without first contacting support, their account may be suspended pending resolution.
26.2 Duplicate chargebacks or abusive disputes may lead to permanent bans.
26.3 Codoser provides evidence to payment processors to contest unfounded chargebacks.

27. Refunds for Gift Purchases

27.1 If gifting functionality is offered, refunds are only available to the original purchaser, not the recipient.
27.2 Refunds follow the same eligibility rules as normal transactions.

28. Tax Implications on Refunds

28.1 Refunds may include or exclude taxes depending on legal requirements and gateway behavior.
28.2 Tax refunds follow applicable jurisdictional rules and may take longer than product refunds.

29. Affiliate Commission Adjustments on Refunds

29.1 If a refunded transaction involved affiliate commission, the commission will be reversed accordingly.
29.2 Affiliates may see adjustments in their dashboards after refunds are processed.

30. Recordkeeping of Refunds

30.1 All refund and cancellation transactions are logged for legal, accounting, and audit purposes.
30.2 These records may be shared with tax authorities, regulators, or payment processors if required by law.

31. Refund Policy Applicability to Different License Types

31.1 Both Regular and Extended Licenses are covered under this Policy.
31.2 Refund eligibility does not vary between license types; however, Extended License purchases undergo additional verification before approval due to their higher value.
31.3 Users purchasing Extended Licenses are expected to review product details carefully prior to checkout.

32. Refunds for Services or Customizations

32.1 If Codoser or authors offer optional services (e.g., installation, customization, support add-ons), separate refund rules may apply.
32.2 Services that have already been rendered, partially or fully, are non-refundable.
32.3 If a service has not yet commenced and a refund request is received within the allowed period, it may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

33. Pre-Orders or Pre-Releases

33.1 If a product is offered for pre-order before release, buyers may cancel the order and request a refund any time before delivery.
33.2 Once the product is delivered, standard digital refund rules apply.
33.3 If the product is delayed indefinitely, automatic cancellation and refunds may occur.

34. Beta or Experimental Products

34.1 Beta products or experimental releases are typically offered “as is” and may not qualify for refunds except in cases of non-delivery or proven corruption.
34.2 Buyers are informed in advance about the beta status and expected limitations.

35. Temporary Promotions and Time-Limited Offers

35.1 Refunds are not generally available for time-limited sales or promotions (e.g., flash sales, discounted bundles).
35.2 Buyers are expected to review terms carefully during the promotional period.
35.3 Exceptions may be made if legal obligations require refunds.

36. Legal Compliance and Consumer Rights

36.1 This Policy does not affect any statutory consumer rights available under local laws.
36.2 EU/EEA buyers have specific digital content rights under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, including remedies for defective content.
36.3 California residents retain rights under the CCPA, including refund-related protections where applicable.
36.4 Indian buyers are protected by the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.

37. Marketplace Nature of Transactions

37.1 Codoser operates as a facilitating platform, connecting buyers and authors.
37.2 Refund decisions involve both platform rules and author input, but Codoser retains final decision-making authority.
37.3 Authors must respect refund decisions and cooperate in good faith.

38. Consequences of Refund Approval

38.1 Once a refund is issued, the associated license is automatically revoked.
38.2 Buyers must delete all downloaded files, derivatives, or installations and cease usage immediately.
38.3 Continued use after refund constitutes a breach of the License Policy and may lead to legal action.

39. Refund Denial

39.1 Codoser may deny refund requests in cases where:

  • No valid reason is provided.
  • Evidence is insufficient to support claims.
  • The buyer has clearly used or benefited from the product.
  • Refund eligibility window has expired.
  • The issue stems from the buyer’s system, hosting, or lack of technical expertise.
39.2 Refund denials will be communicated with clear reasoning.

40. Buyer Responsibilities

40.1 Buyers are responsible for reviewing product descriptions, documentation, compatibility notes, and license terms before purchase.

40.3 Refund requests arising from buyer negligence or oversight will not be entertained.

41. Author Responsibilities

41.1 Authors must provide products that match their description, function properly, and comply with marketplace standards.
41.2 Authors must respond promptly to refund-related queries and cooperate with investigations.
41.3 Repeated failure to resolve buyer issues may lead to sanctions, payout holds, or account termination.

42. Platform Responsibilities

42.1 Codoser provides a structured refund system, mediation services, and legal compliance mechanisms.
42.2 The platform acts fairly and impartially between buyers and authors.
42.3 Codoser is not liable for delays or decisions caused by inaccurate or incomplete information from either party.

43. Dispute Resolution for Refund Claims

43.1 If a buyer disagrees with a refund decision, they may file a formal dispute following the Dispute Resolution Policy.
43.2 Mediation or structured review will be conducted to reach a fair outcome.
43.3 Final platform decisions after dispute review are binding within the marketplace ecosystem.

44. Chargebacks After Refund

44.1 If a buyer initiates a chargeback after receiving a refund, this is considered fraudulent behavior.
44.2 Codoser will contest the chargeback and may permanently ban the account.
44.3 Relevant evidence will be shared with payment providers and, if necessary, legal authorities.

45. Termination of Accounts Due to Abuse

45.1 Buyers who repeatedly abuse refund or cancellation mechanisms may face temporary or permanent account suspension.

45.3 Such cases may also be escalated legally.

46.1 If a payment is processed due to a technical glitch or platform malfunction, refunds will be issued promptly.
46.2 Buyers must report such issues as soon as they are detected.

47. Author Account Deductions

47.1 Refunds issued to buyers may be deducted from the respective author’s earnings.
47.2 Authors are responsible for maintaining sufficient balances to cover potential refunds.
47.3 Repeated high refund rates may trigger additional scrutiny or restrictions.

48. Refund Records and Regulatory Compliance

48.1 Refund records are maintained for accounting, tax, and regulatory purposes.
48.2 These records may be provided to tax authorities, payment processors, or regulators upon lawful request.

49. Taxes on Refunded Amounts

49.1 If taxes were included in the original purchase, refunds will be handled in compliance with local tax rules.
49.2 Tax components may be refunded separately or adjusted depending on jurisdiction.

50. Refund Policy for Affiliates

50.1 Affiliates are not entitled to refunds on commissions, but their commissions are reversed proportionally when related buyer refunds occur.
50.2 Affiliates must not encourage refund abuse to boost referral numbers.

51. Refund Policy for Resellers or Partners

51.1 If third-party resellers or white-label partners are involved, their refund processes must align with this Policy.
51.2 Codoser reserves the right to override partner refund decisions if they conflict with platform rules or legal obligations.

52. International Transaction Considerations

52.1 International transactions may involve additional steps due to currency conversion, bank regulations, or cross-border payment laws.
52.2 Refund timelines may vary accordingly.
52.3 Buyers are encouraged to allow sufficient processing time for international refunds.
